Driving Lessons in Surrey

Lesson guidelines:

• Each lesson will be tailored to the individual student needs and capabilities. The first lesson always start with a consultation to orientate the student to the car, do a pre-trip, go over the road test information and how the lessons will go.
• Instructor goes over feedback with every student after each lesson and fills out a student record which contains all of the skills and maneuvers that ICBC marks on the road test. The student and/or parent or Guardian of the student will receive a copy of this marking sheet each time.  Your Instructor may provide any additional feedback to any parent and/or significant other of the student as needed or necessary at any point during the lessons. We encourages open communication by student or parent and/or guardian of student at any point during your lessons.  This is encouraged to ensure that the student is always happy and satisfied and that any unknown issues are out in the open and addressed during his/her lessons.
• The Instructor will do everything possible to provide the student with all of the tools, skills, confidence and knowledge to pass their Road tests, however, in order for the Student to have the best opportunity to pass, he/she will need to practice in between lessons. ICBC recommends approximately 60 hours total driving time in order to be at the level it takes to pass a Road test. Therefore, it will be the student and if applicable, parents, spouse or guardian of the student’s responsibility to ensure that the he/she get the proper amount of practice in between lessons in order to increase chances of success. Recommended time in between lessons will vary from student to student, however a benchmark would be at least 2 hours practice time per week.
• Typically all lessons are one on one. Having another person in the vehicle besides the student and instructor is not generally permitted unless the student needs a language interpreter or something of the sort. Please talk to us if you have questions about this.

Payment of Lessons:

Individual lessons are due the day of the lesson. Any lesson packages will be invoiced prior to 1st lesson. Packages are discounted from the individual lesson price and therefore payment of the full package is due on the 1st lesson.

Methods of Payment Accepted:

Cash, E-transfer or Credit card

Receipts issued for cash transactions, otherwise bank or credit card debit is proof of payment

Hours of Operation:

6 days a week from 8am until 8pm. Lessons are dependent upon availability.

Cancelling Lessons:

• We require a minimum of 24 hrs notice for any cancellations. If there has not been a minimum 24 hr notice to cancel or change a lesson time, then the School reserves the right to charge a $20 booking fee. This fee is to cover the booked lesson which could have been otherwise filled by another student.
• Lessons cancelled 1 hour or less from lesson time are considered a no show (see below) as the Instructor is already on route. In these cases, that lesson would be lost.
• If you book a lesson and then cancel it, the reschedule is based upon the School and/or Student’s availability only. We will try everything to reschedule the lesson but if we cannot reschedule a cancelled lesson prior to your road test because of no availability, then we are not liable to refund that lesson.
• In cases of rescheduled lessons, we prefer that this be done over the phone rather than by text or email so please give us a call to reschedule your cancelled lesson.

No Shows/Lateness:

• Any lesson booked is a confirmed lesson unless cancelled. If the Instructor shows up for that lesson and the student is not there, the Instructor will wait 15 minutes for you to arrive. If you do not show for your lesson and did not cancel, this is considered a no show and you will lose that lesson.
• At times, your Instructor may run late to get to you on your lesson on time. In these cases, she will inform you of her arrival time and the lesson will start when she arrives.
• If the student is late for his/her lesson, your Instructor will advise you at time of the lesson whether or not she is able to give the full lesson. It will depend on lessons booked afterwards as she
• may be on a tight schedule. If your Instructor is not able to provide the full lesson, it is not the School’s responsibility to make up for the lost time.

Road test Guarantee:

• If you would like to partake in the Road Test Guarantee, you would need to talk to us about it first. This initial conversation would need to be done in order to sign up for the guarantee. In order to qualify for the road test guarantee, the Instructor would have to feel that after the sufficient amount of lessons and practice that the student is “road test ready”. If the Instructor feels the student is road test ready, she will provide a Simulated Road test on the student’s last lesson. The Student does not have to pass the simulated road test but the Instructor would still need to feel he/she has a good chance of passing the road test which she will relay to the student after the test.
• If the student qualifies for the road test guarantee and has booked our car for the road test package, then if for any reason if he/she does not pass their road test, then he/she is eligible to rent the car for the road test next time at no charge. (The 2nd road test booking will be dependent upon availability)

Refunds:

It is our goal that each and every customer is satisfied with their experience in working with our school and that that your driving goals are ultimately met. We therefore, want to ensure that we come to a resolution that will satisfy you should you want a refund if you purchased a lesson package from us.

Disclaimer:

**Lessons should be taken within 1 year of purchase unless circumstances beyond ones control such as sickness or natural disasters or pandemics which cause government lockdowns. If one decides to not take their lessons within a year after purchase outside of these reasons, they forfeit the right for a refund if the school is not able for any reason to accommodate those lessons.

Besides lessons not taken within 1 year after purchase, other exemptions for refunds include the following:

• Lessons already taken
• Lessons that are booked and cancelled by the student and not able to be rescheduled prior to road test due to non-availability in schedule
• Committing to a package and then simply changing mind on going through with the commitment
• Circumstances beyond our school’s control such as natural disasters or lockdowns during the pandemic. (If this is the case, lessons will not be lost, they will be banked until things return to normal).

We encourage people to use up their lessons as soon as possible to avoid any unforeseen future events which could impact being able to provide the lessons such as those listed above.

In cases where a refund is sought, the protocol would be to call us to discuss your reason as we would like a chance to be able to rectify the problem. If after this conversation, you still wish to receive a refund, then we will provide you with a refund less a 15% fee which will be taken off of the refund amount.   This covers any processing fees or scheduling losses to the school.

Refunds given will be assessed as following:

• If less than 4 lessons taken, the refund will be package price purchased less the cost of each lesson taken at the individual lesson price as shown on our website
• If more than 4 lessons taken, refund will be calculated at any unused lessons at the package price purchased
• If more than 15 lessons purchased and taken, then the refund will be processed at the unused lessons calculated at the 15 lesson package rate.

Lesson Fees:

$75/1 hr, $110/1.5 hrs, $140/2 hrs.

4 Lesson package:    $335

6 Lesson package:    $495

8 Lesson package:    $665

10 Lesson package:  $835

15 Lesson package:  $1165

Road Test Packages:

(Incl. pick up and drop off from location of choice within service range, warm up lesson, use of car for RT and post RT consultation)

$175 – Pick up 1 hr prior to Road Test

$250– Pick up 2 hrs prior to Road Test

Road Test Information:

We do not book the road tests for the student.  This can be done online at ICBC.com.  ICBC charges $35 to take the Class 7 road test. If you pass, you would need to pay an additional $75 (a total of $110). You are required to arrive 15 min. before the time scheduled for your Road test. If you do not provide a 48 hr notice to cancel your road test with ICBC, then you will be charged $25 by ICBC. You will need to bring with you to the day of the Road test your Learners License and 2 pieces of ID as well as the $110 mentioned above. If you do not have the proper payment or ID’s with you on the road test day, you will not be able to take your road test and will have to rebook it.

Use of Personal Information:

We are obligated under ICBC to collect personal information as required by them in order to complete a student record after each lesson. This student record could be requested at any time by ICBC in order to ensure compliance with their standards. This information collected is under strict confidentiality and will not be shared with anyone other than the person collected from, Streetwize Driving School and/or ICBC if requested by them for audit purposes. This information will never be shared or sold to any third parties for the sake of marketing purposes.

If we would like to take any pictures of students such as when they pass their road test for the use of displaying in a photo gallery on our website or in an advertising campaign through such means as either Google or Facebook, we will only do so upon the expressed consent of the student for which we are taking the picture.

Referral program:

Streetwize Driving School has a referral program where if you refer someone to our driving school and they purchase a package of lessons, we will give you a $10 Starbucks card as our way of saying thanks.
