Your Road Test is fast approaching and you are worried. You don’t have to be! Make sure that you are prepared before the test. Avoid these common mistakes that can cost you the Road Test.

Everyone makes little mistakes that can be avoided if you pay a little attention. The point is not only in passing the Road Test, but also to become a responsible driver.

Avoid these mistakes and you will pass your Road Test on the first try!

1.     Not looking at mirrors frequently

When making a turn or changing lanes always check your side view and back view mirror. Most people forget this, because they feel nervous and forget what they were supposed to do. Therefore, keep calm and practice so that checking mirrors becomes a habit for you.

2.     Not maintaining the speed limit

Driving too fast will earn you negative points, but so will driving too slowly. Therefore, maintain the speed limit at all times. Also, be aware of the speed limits in different areas of your community.

3.     Not holding the steering wheel properly

For your driving test, you have to show that you are a responsible driver. Therefore, even if your drive with one hand in reality, keep both of your hands on the wheel for your driving test.

4.     Not stopping at the stop sign

Make sure that you stop completely at the stop sign. Avoid making a rolling stop as it would mean that you are not following the rules.

5.     Changing lanes abruptly

Take your time in changing lanes. Most people change lanes abruptly and don’t follow the procedure because they are nervous during the test. Before you signal for making a turn, look. Then check your mirrors before you a make a turn.

6.     Braking too hard

Avoid this as this will get you negative points in the Road Test.

7.     Tailgating

Keep distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. Follow too closely and there is chance that you will bump into the car in front of you.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to relax. If you have prepared well beforehand, then, there is nothing to worry about. Don’t forget the basics when taking your Road Test and Good Luck!
